Who am I…? III: Reality

In Who am I…? – Part 1, I spoke of the lies I believed about myself. The lies I allowed satan to speak over me my entire life and convince me to believe. The blog was the truth from the depths of my soul. A dark place that had hidden them for many years. When something comes out from a place that deep and dark, it can sound a little scary and disconcerting.

Then in Who am I…? – Part 2, I spoke the truth over each of those lies. I shared what our Father said in his Word about who I am. The truth comes from the light and can be jarring and blindingly jovial at times. It sometimes seems too good to be true, but it is.

These blogs contrasted the difference in thought and emotion when speaking words from a place of darkness and from a place of light.

I was in the same mindset and completely healthy when writing both of these blogs. The words that were put on the page came from two different locations. One came from a script of lies I carried in the darkest place of my heart for years and the others from the scripted pages of The Bible.

The reality, however, is that most of us live in a place somewhere in between. It is a constant ebb and flow of life between darkness and light. Satan will constantly try to pull you down and Jesus will always be standing, hands outstretched to lift you up.

It took me consciously sitting before God and asking Him to reveal to me what were lies I had come to believe. I had no idea they were there. It was a decision I made to be completely OK with what the Lord revealed to me, and then be willing to work through it.

Your reality is built on what script you read from. After I learned that I was operating based off of a lie, I then began to seek and ask for a script to replace it. It has been difficult, but worth it.

Are you reading from your ‘script of lies’ or from the ‘script of truth’?

In Anchorman, Ron Burgundy reads everything put on the teleprompter. His co-workers take advantage of this weakness and change the script. He ends up saying some questionable things and gets in real trouble.

The enemy tries to take advantage of your weaknesses. He tells you you don’t look like the woman on the cover of the magazine in the checkout line. He whispers that your mistakes will never leave you; what you did is unforgivable and means you are undeserving and worthless. Everyone has areas they don’t think anyone knows about, but satan does and he will use it against you, unless you know the truth.

What script are you reading from? Do you believe everything others or even what you say about who you are? Do you know the truth about you? I do.

YOU ARE LOVED

YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL

YOU ARE STRONG

YOU ARE ACCEPTED

YOU ARE WORTHY

YOU ARE A CHILD OF THE KING

I am choosing to listen to what my Daddy says in his Word. It will take time and it will take effort to erase those lies etched into my heart over the years, but Jesus has the power to do just that. Through the power of the Spirit living in me I will be able to write over each of those lies with truth and then I can combat the lies when they come in the future.
